Civic education, economic education on tax legality

A project for students in 4th, 5th grade, and middle school, developed during Technology hours thanks to the kind support of Dr. Surico, a tax expert.

Purpose of the project: to spread the value of fiscal economic legality to the citizens of the future.

Animated comics, clips from famous films featuring paradoxical situations, hilarious jokes from comedians like Bisio, Albanese, Zalone. They have been effective teaching tools for arousing curiosity and keeping attention high on a topic that is not exactly simple and immediate to assimilate.

With this strategy, Dr. Surico got to the heart of the matter by stimulating participation and reflection on the importance of taxes and duties, what happens if you don’t pay, and the main forms of tax evasion starting with the failure to issue a receipt.

Our students, sensitive to social issues, understood that respecting the rules in this field too has a positive impact on society. In fact, a correct and just contribution participation is fundamental for the common good, it serves to carry out public works, make services work, finance research and help those in need.

At the conclusion of the project, the debate “To pay or not to pay taxes?” for students preparing for the 3rd grade exam. Through the discussion, students divided into 2 groups were able to support or refute a claim regarding a specific fee.

Defining the pros and cons relating to Tari, school fees, RAI license fee or others, favored the comparison of different opinions, the development of critical-decision thinking and the consolidation of the topics studied.

The added value? The use of the English language for debate.
