Purpose

  • Allow the students to acquire knowledge and self-awareness
  • Promote a conscious, responsible and independent participation of students to the joint activities
  • Help acquire behaviours entailing acceptance, respect, solidarity with others in the school community and in a multicultural society
  • Help acquire knowledge, skills and abilities that lead students to a good cultural and professional formation
  • Allow all students to develop knowledge, attitudes and skills to facilitate their active participation as citizens of a global community
  • Use the knowledge and skills to reflect on the reality
  • Positively guide students towards values ​​such as democracy, justice, peace, respect for the environment

Objectives

The general objectives to be pursued are not only directed to the achievement of educational knowledge, but they aim to consolidate the transversal skills that contribute to the complete growth of an individual:

  • Make the school become a centre of aggregation
  • Stimulate the acquisition of an effective study method
  • Allow the gradual development of a sense of responsibility and critical judgement
  • Promote the consolidation of language and communication skills skills in foreign languages ​​to facilitate the enrolment in any national and international school
  • Create situations to allow the practical use of the language skills acquired in hands-on activities, games, and other forms of expression
  • Strengthen cross-language skills to learn about different cultures
  • Provide students with learning technologies and teach them their intelligent and purposeful use

English learning takes place through:

  • the teaching of the language as a subject (phonetics, grammar, listening, speaking)
  • the use of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This work method considers the use of English with native English teachers to deal with topics of class subjects covered in Italian.

Students are also brought into contact with the English language thanks to a stimulating environment, to laboratory activities (computer science, science, music, theatre, art, sports) and to a staff of competent teachers.

The French language is gradually taught starting from the third grade in primary school in much the same way.

The Alba International School uses the same educational program as State schools with a wider scope design, based on the strong expansion of the use of English to achieve a solid cultural and professional training.
